THE NEW SINGLE FROM CASTELLA - HURT SO BAD

Get ready for the new single from Castella! It’s a Cover of a Classic!

Hurt So Bad…  a song written by Teddy Randazzo, Bobby Weinstein, Bobby Hart and originally recorded by Little Anthony & The Imperials (1964) Top 10 in 1965… a few others, The Lettermen, Nancy Wilson & David Cassidy gave it go and later Linda Ronstadt in 1980, made a hit of it.  60 & 45 years later, two-time Indie Soul Award Winning vocalist Castella felt it was time to shine some light on this classic song she considers to be one of the most emotional songs ever recorded.  Of all the renditions out there, Castella has always gravitated to the original recording by Little Anthony & The Imperials. "It's just so darn emotional" she says!  Her rendition pays homage to the nostalgia and undeniable emotion and sheer passion as well as a little doo wop, with of course Castella's signature sound and voice that will have the listeners hitting repeat.  Castella delivers a strong vocal performance that will make listeners feel the pain the songwriters must’ve felt when they penned this amazing song.

Castella teamed up with her production team of Jeff Canady (Detroit, MI) #1 Billboard charting producer & Darryl Swann (Los Angeles, CA) Grammy Award winning record producer for another hit record from the upcoming EP “A Couple of Covers”.  Castella received her second Indie Soul Award and #1 chart topping success in the US, Canada, Spain & Italy with Nights Over Egypt, which was also produced by Castella's production team of Jeff Canady and Darryl Swann.   Jeff created an amazing track which included renowned Detroit musicians.  Starting with Brendon Davis on Keys and String Arrangements (a fresh new talent, who likens the style of George Duke), Kenny “Rocket” Morris on Guitar, Darrell Smith (RIP) on Bass and Jeff Canady on Drums.  Darryl Swann rounded out the instrumentation with his production of Orchestral Percussion, which added drama to the track, to great excitement for Castella.  “It added an element of emotion that will capture the listener at just the right moments” she says.  Darryl Swann has over 30 years in the recording industry and is credited for inspiring Castella to pursue a recording career.  He served as Vocal Engineer, Mixing/Mastering Engineer and Record Producer on Hurt So Bad, as well as most of Castella's music.  Recording vocals in North Hollywood, Castella opens up and embodies the raw emotion of the lyric of the song while paying homage to the classic tune, bringing a soulful, heartfelt style of singing to the forefront once again with her powerful vocals and ability to emote the pain of wanting and losing the one you love. Castella again, showcases her ability to belt a song for us as well as swoon us with luscious harmonies and a sweet softness as she doubles as her own background singer once again.

Castella says, “God’s dreams for me are bigger than mine” and is amazed at the opportunities being presented to her. Castella recalls telling her daughter that she was going to cover Hurt So Bad someday… “to see it actually happen is a dream come true!” says the singer
